I've actually heard the "you don't look like a vegetarian" comment before. I'm surprised you've never gotten the rant about plants feeling pain and how immoral it is to eat them.

Just remember what it means when someone is labelled a "Meathead: :-)

Sometimes I feel ready to start my slide down the slope of vegetarianism. I think all it would take is seeing one of those PETA videos to set me off.

I'm sure a trip to an "assembly line" commercial farm would do it, too.

Oh, this almost did it while surfing Wikipedia one day:

"Carbon monoxide is used in modified atmosphere packaging systems in the US, mainly with fresh meat products such as beef and pork... This stable red colour can persist much longer than in normally packaged meat, giving the appearance of freshness. Typical levels of CO used are 0.4% to 0.5%."

I think it's a mini-club because a fully-fledged club involves admin. Would a dog require admin?

Is it a mini-club because it's only four? What makes something a club? Maybe five is a club. Like the Famous Five. Except one of those five was a dog. We're just as good as them, just without the dog.

We need a dog.

I mention chocolate penguins here: http://www.veggierant.com/2008/08/hunter-valley-foodie-places/.

As for positive assumptions, occasionally I get "Your cholesterol must be good!" And yes, thank you, it is - 3 at last check.

Still, like anyone, if a vegetarian moves to Scotland to live on deep-fried Mars Bars, I don't expect their cholesterol would fare so well.

Chocolate penguins?? Sorry, I'm a few posts behind.

Do you ever get positive questions/assumptions? Like "oh wow, you must have a great recipe for lentil soup," or "what is an aubergine?
